Through the use of Yoga and Mindfulness activities/read alouds, students will be able to increase focus and attention in class, experience reduced anxiety, and create a toolbox of techniques that can be used in numerous situations.
With the hustle and bustle of daily life, kids are often not taught how to slow down and take a breath. Through the use of Yoga and Mindfulness activities students will be able to better focus in and out of class and acquire skills that can be used independently to help control behaviors. Students will also experience reduced anxiety and be able to self-regulate emotions more effectively. All of these benefits will be able to impact the classroom, specials, the media center, and their home life thus making a huge impact in their overall well-being.
Student behaviors will decrease and result in less calls for administration to assist in calming down/removing students. As a result of the decreased behaviors, learning for all will increase. Not just the student needing the assistance but the other students in the space will also have a better learning environment.
