Project Goal

The goal for this grant towards our program is to help equip our barbershop with tools and equipment that will help the students progress in their barbering skills. We are looking to add better enhanced cutting tools for the students to use.

How Project Benefits Students

In 2022 I became a licensed barber with the sole purpose to start the barbering program at our school. After 18 years of teaching Cosmetology I felt a large number of kids were being missed. The program started last year and 2 students already received their license, with more on the horizon. I feel this grant will help students get the tools they will need to help them in their haircutting skills. My old classroom is slowly being turned into a barbershop for the kids and we lack electrical outlets, so having cordless tools would benefit them while working in the space they have. Ring lights will give the students better lighting when working on fine detail while cutting hair and will be permanent equipment for the space.

Expected Outcome(s)

The expected outcome will align with the Barbering Standards
01.01 Select and utilize hair cutting implements and techniques (shears, razor, clippers, texturizing implements).
01.02 Section hair and proceed with wet or dry hair cut utilizing all elevations (solid form, graduated, layered, over-directed) and combinations with or without blends.
01.03 Edge and clean neckline with razor, clipper, or shears.
05.01 Demonstrate suitable mustache and/or beard design and cutting based on facial structure.
05.02 Demonstrate trimming a mustache or trimming a beard.
05.03 Demonstrate the ability to use and explain professional beard products and sanitation procedures.

Students will have a better opportunity to fulfill these standards with the right tools and equipment. to help them in their future careers.
