Communication. We do it all day, every day, without even realizing it. We do it verbally and non-verbally. We do it when we intend to and when we do not. But for some people, communication is no easy task.
Not all students have the verbal words to communicate. Some rely on gestures, signs, pictures, and/or communication devices to assist in communicating personal information, wants, and needs.
In addition to having language delays, many of my students are intellectually disabled making pictures the most efficient means of communication of which they are capable.
Some students require real life photos while others can use graphics. But all students benefit from colorful, engaging pictures. And in order for them to withstand consistent and continued use, they need to be printed on cardstock, laminated, and adhered with Velcro onto a sturdy backing or binder.
These resources will allow me to make a wide variety of communication supports for all 50 of my students, other teachers, as well as families.
Some examples of communication supports are visual schedules, first/then or choice boards, pictures of vocabulary words to allow for class participation, a portable ring with common requests, etc.
All items will be purchased through Amazon with Prime (free) shipping for a total of $230.34.
