Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Sylvia Ellis Pheneger - $1,091.72
As a math teacher at a Title 1 school where all of our students receive free and reduced lunch, we have many students that are lacking the basic necessities needed to learn and thrive in our educational environment. I wanted to ensure that the students are provided with the materials needed to assist them as they work in the classrooms.
Providing students with the proper materials supports student learning. Students can be successful in the learning environment and progress through the content because they would have the materials needed to help them in their daily learning. Our school district does not provide us with pencil sharpeners. The little money the teachers are given to buy supplies would be depleted by buying a reliable, sturdy pencil sharpener. We were gifted some good sharpeners a few years ago but they have since broken or are in need of being replaced. As a math teacher I am always saying to my students, "Show your work!" Without the basic pencils, paper, and pencil sharpeners, my students cannot do what I am asking. By providing quality pencil sharpeners to every classroom, I am able to give our students the tools needed for their learning and success!
The overall outcome of the grant is to provide students with sharpened pencils to use during all their daily lessons. It would enable students to provide written responses to the classroom lessons, showing their work in math, recording experiments and learning in science, writing stories and essays, citing evidence in reading, and so much more without wasted time because students do not have a sharpened pencil. My expectation is that we are able to make sure all students at Kingswood are ready to learn!
