My philosophy agrees with Alfred Mercier, " What we learn with pleasure we never forget" as well as Albert Einstein's quote "Creativity is intelligence having fun." My goal is to offer students options and tools to explore experiences in science and math through hands-on learning. I hope through hands-on learning students will discover their thirst for knowledge.
I will request materials to support Florida Standards in both science and math curriculum. The items have durability and will be available to future students and available to other grade levels to share. Students test in intermediate grades and have not found great success. This grant could turn this trend in a positive direction as it builds the foundation. My students are not afforded the same advantages or experiences as those in non-title one schools. This grant provides a leveling of the playing field meeting my students' needs.
I currently impact 40 students; I teach math and science. The impact is almost countless as to the materials are offered to share. Students will build their passion in science, math, and cooperative learning. For example, a set of K'Nex materials in building bridges might lead to students following a path to becoming an engineer. In addition, students will have the learning become more concrete than a book or virtual learning. This learning will be foundational in building learning to future successes.
All materials requested come from county vendor, "School Specialty". I requested bundles where possible. Thank you for the opportunity to have these materials in my students' hands for learning is experiencing.
