Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Hillsborough Education Foundation - $1,700.00
Our Project Goal is to provide academically successful, low income migrant students, with the opportunity to visit USF and develop a vision for their future.
My name is Susan Alamillo and I am a Migrant Advocate for Hillsborough County Schools. I would like for 50 high achieving Migrant students to have the opportunity to visit USF.
Most of these students will be the first in their families to
graduate from High School and have the opportunity to go to college. These students are resilient and highly motivated to succeed. They are academically successful despite a long list of barriers. These students are future leaders for their families and for the community. They are true examples of the American Dream.
I would like to provide them with the opportunity to visit USF and learn about the programs and future careers that are available.
I am asking for funding to cover the expense of a charter bus to get the students to the University and for lunch.
Students will be able to better visualize their future goals and understand the purpose for their continued effort and academic success.
Students will be accompanied by mentors that will provide guidance as they work toward graduation and acceptance into college.
This will help students to secure access to admittance into college.
Charter bus rental at $200 per hour x 6 hours = $1,200
Lunch for 50 students at $10 per student = $500
