Amgen Foundation - $360.00
Students will bring their learning to life through the exhibits and planetarium at MOSI.
A full day at MOSI will allow my students to experience hands-on learning on the themes that we learn about in the classroom. They will be able to visit the Dino Lab and touch rocks that helped the dinosaurs digest food. Through the Space Walk exhibits students will match their footsteps to the boots worn to the moon. In the butterfly garden they will identify common butterflies found in Florida. Inside of the hurricane tube they come face-to-face with 70 MPH winds. After the exhibit they will get to participate in the Android Inventor program where students get to build and code a dynamic science rover that follows commands. We will end the day at MOSI by visiting the planetarium. Here they will learn about the ancient sky myths of Orion and Why Little Bear seems to never leave the sky.
Most importantly my class is composed of underrepresented ethnicities & races in the world of STEM. This exposure will give them a boost to pique their interest into the world of STEM.
-100% Student engagement
-100% of my students from different ethnicities and races will be exposed to the world of STEM.
