Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Amgen Foundation - $1,120.00
As ELA teacher, I have noticed that during story time and when learning about animals the students have no prior knowledge about animals. When I ask what their habitat is or what do they look like or eat. They give me a blank stare. I would like to take both of my Kindergarten classes to the Tampa Zoo so that they can see and experience the zoo animals hands on.
The benefit from this trip will give the children an experience that will help them make connections to topics discussed in class and probably a first time ever experience of going to the zoo.
My expectations are that the students will gain a greater knowledge of the different types of animals and how they live. This trip will help the students understand that animals are living beings, and they have certain needs to survive. Hoping that the students will development empathy and compassion for animals.
I would like for the children to receive a boxed lunch provided by the zoo, due to a brown bag lunch for the trip might be an hardship for the families. The extra 200.00 for small gift bags are souvenir bags so that the children will walk away with a small memory or toke from the trip.
