Project Goal

I would like to provide my students with the opportunity to help them read more in Spanish. I will use existing scores from my past Spanish 2 students on their final exams to compare to students who use these practice texts. I predict a 10-15% improvement if we get to utilize these books in the second semester of this year. I would expect a greater jump when using them with students in subsequent years since we will have more opportunities to grow their skills.  

 

How Project Benefits Students

With books that provide short stories they can practice reading in a more casual environment offering stories with variety and questions that test their comprehension. Students like a change of scenery as opposed to the same textbook and workbook that they use daily. The Spanish readers that I found can provide them that challenge and change of pace.  

 

Expected Outcome(s)

Being that the stories are brief and won’t overwhelm them, they will build up their confidence. This will help them to read, speak, listen, and write more as I can plan brief, accompanying exercises that utilize and reinforce the readings.
