I am a science coach at Robinson Elementary school that services low-income families. The science tools being requested: trundle wheels, microscopes, binoculars, telescope, digital scales, magnets, thermometers, and magnifying viewers. These materials will allow the 550 students at our school experience science through a hands-on application.
These tools are focused on nature of science standards, which for our demographic are in need of improvement based on standardized testing. Hands on science tools will allow students to gain the love for science to better understanding of the world around them.
These science tools will be used in grades k-5 in the science lab to explore. Students will be able to measure distance of their rockets when launched outside using trundle wheels. Students will be able to use microscopes and magnifying viewers to take a closer look at items that students are finding while exploring outside. Hands on science tools will allow students to gain real world experience that they are not able to experience at home. This will help students when taking standardized science test.
