Find It Fund It Florida - Hillsborough Education Foundation

My goal is to give our exceptional students access to an immersive art education through a sensory-focused experience they'll never forget. As we continue our second semester with "Art Around the World," I'd like to continue building the Art Sensory Forest we began in our classroom. This will enable them to gain a better understanding of the elements of art and principals of design as they relate to our daily lives.

Project Goal

My goal is to give our exceptional students access to an immersive art education through a sensory-focused experience they'll never forget. As we continue our second semester with "Art Around the World," I'd like to continue building the Art Sensory Forest we began in our classroom. This will enable them to gain a better understanding of the elements of art and principals of design as they relate to our daily lives.

How Project Benefits Students

The Sensory Art Forest @ Eisenhower Exceptional Center gives our amazing students access to the art standards in a way that caters to their unique learning needs. More than 90% of our student base are on the autism spectrum with sensory needs that aren't necessarily addressed in traditional art rooms. Our students have not received a formal art education in four years, and are behind in their experience and learning compared to their peers in the district as well as across the country. Having this project funded means truly making education--especially art education--accessible to all.

Expected Outcome(s)

We expect to see 65% of our students to gain a better understanding of the principals of design and elements of art. Students will be able to successfully identify foundational elements of art across multiple genres of this field. We also anticipate that 50% or more of students will be able to use various areas of the art room to help with stemming and re-focusing on their task(s) at hand.

Detailed Cost Summary

The items listed are a summary of what would be included in our Sensory art forest. The quantities ensure that once broken (which happens often due to students stemming), other students will still be able to enjoy this art experience. Our students unique needs often require multiples of the same item throughout the school year. Often, our student are not able to share and require the use of their own tools and supplies. Thank you for your time and consideration!
