Title 1 students will be able to self-select books of choice by using subject signage throughout the media center. Students will know the contents of their media center and feeling comfortable when selecting books will add to their interest in reading.
Students will be able search for books independently with the assistance of genre, subject and Dewey signage set up throughout the media center. The kid friendly signs will provide students with book options and will help them find books of interest that they might not have located otherwise. Signage will include picture clues for all levels of readers to feel successful in book selection. Signage will be used each school year, so students will become familiar with where subjects are located and will feel empowered in the media center.
Showcasing the different book genres and subjects to students will encourage them to independently select books of interest and increase circulation. Making student book selections user friendly, will increase visits to the media center and confidence in our media center patrons, and ultimately produce a love of reading.
