Project Goal

My goal is to help my kindergarten students become proficient readers through the use of these Phonemic kits. This will be an additional resource that will be used along with UFLI lessons which are a part of our ELA block.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

How Project Benefits Students

These kits are designed to help children begin to associate the phonemes they hear with the graphemes in the written English language that represent those sounds. This correspondence is important for foundational literacy skills. Once children have a strong understanding of a handful of phoneme-grapheme associations, they can begin reading and writing with that knowledge. This will help my students become proficient readers.

Expected Outcome(s)

I expect a lot of positive outcomes from the use of these kits.
*I expect my students to have both strong word recognition and strong language comprehension skills.
*Increased reading fluency.
*High student engagement and buy in with the multisensory kit. Each student will get to manipulate daily the components daily as we move through each step of the UFLI phonic lessons.

*I expect to see a measurable improvement in students' phonics skills as assessed through pre- and post UFLI evaluations and weekly assessments on the skills being taught each week.
