The goal of this project is to provide STEM supplies and tools to elementary students at our Title I school. I want to provide students with hands-on materials and equipment to enhance their understanding of STEM concepts and foster a love for exploration. My goal is to ensure all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have equal opportunities to explore and excel with STEM.
School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.
By having access to these supplies, students can engage in interactive learning, conduct experiments, and apply scientific principles in real-world scenarios. This project will benefit students by providing them with these engaging and hands-on learning experiences, giving them access to updated and diverse science manipulatives, engage in collaborative projects, and engage in problem-solving activities. These resources will not only help boost their academic performance but also boost their confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm for STEM. We will be preparing students for future success in higher education and STEM related careers.
The expected outcomes include increased student engagement and interest in STEM, improved understanding of STEM topics, enhanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, improved academic performance in science and mathematics, and a greater appreciation for the scientific process. I expect to see a positive impact on students' attitudes towards learning and with more students expressing a desire to pursue careers in STEM fields. Ultimately, this project aims to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
Plan to measure the students' academic improvement includes:
a. Pre and Post Assessments: Conducting assessments (such as the district quarterly progress monitoring) before and after introducing STEM supplies to measure knowledge and skills gained.
b. Observations: Regularly observe students during activities to see how they apply concepts and problem-solving skills using science manipulatives.
c. Student Work: Collect work samples over time to track progress and improvements in understanding and application of STEM concepts.
