How Project Benefits Students

At my school, the majority of the students live in low-income, single-parent households. These students often can't even afford to buy themselves school supplies, no less books to read.

It has always been my dream to make a difference in a child's life, and the biggest change comes from the ability to read. When a child reads, they can imagine, think, innovate, and create. Through books, children explore topics of the world, and find interests that engage them. They become informed, and have higher chances of success.

A small ripple of hope can cause a wave of change.

Expected Outcome(s)

The goal of this project is to get students to think creatively, improve problem-solving skills, and to ultimately enhance their learning via reading.

-75% of the 5th grade students will be able to read on-level texts

-85% of the 5th grade students will be able to read books above-level

-Students will score higher on Language Arts tests THIS YEAR than compared the year of 23-24

Detailed Cost Summary

The project would cost near $1300, with purchases including picture books, chapter books, bookshelves, bean bag chairs, reading posters, and much more.
This grant would be greatly appreciated in our classroom, and contribute to the success of each student through the treasure of reading.
