Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Tampa Electric Company - $739.00
The goal of this grant is to open new horizons for students at a rural Title 1 school by equipping them with essential coding skills using innovative tools like coding mice. By fostering their interest and proficiency in computer science, the project aims to expand students' career possibilities and prepare them for future success in an increasingly digital world.
Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.
My goal is for our classroom to transform into a vibrant center for learning that allows students to grow their science knowledge in the most hands-on way possible. Science can be an extremely abstract concept for students to try and understand which is evident in science being one of the lowest performing subjects in our district. My students come from a rural area where a majority of them live below the poverty line and have not had the access to a variety of life experiences such as going to the zoo or a museum. This grant will provide invaluable learning opportunities, bridging the gap between abstract concepts and practical understanding. These activities will ignite curiosity, foster critical thinking, and empower students to excel in science and beyond, preparing them for future success in an increasingly competitive world.
Skill Mastery: Students will master coding concepts through engaging hands-on activities with coding mice and other interactive tools.
STEM Engagement: The materials purchased by this grant will ignite a passion for STEM disciplines, particularly computer science, among students through practical learning experiences.
Academic Gains: Improved problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills will enhance students' academic performance across subjects for years to come as a result of this grant.
Equitable Access: The project promotes educational equity by providing all students from varied backgrounds with equal opportunities in computer science education.
The grant will fund materials to enhance hands-on computer science learning and support organizational needs. Specifically, a majority of the grant will cover coding mice for programming concepts and foam squares for hopscotch sequencing along with children's literature and pixel art kits. An additional portion will provide pencil pouches and boxes for organizing these materials effectively. This allocation ensures resources are used efficiently to promote interactive education and maintain equipment longevity.
