Project Goal

The goal is to provide students with the opportunity to engage in texts that supplement district provided resources. Storyworks will provide students the chance to rekindle their spark for reading and become better readers by using this student friendly, engaging text centered on topics that are exciting for students.

How Project Benefits Students

Students will build their background knowledge through the insightful, entertaining, and engaging text offered in Scholastic Storyworks. Storyworks engages readers with photographs, pictures, captions, and many other text features to capture and hold the attention of the reader. Fourth grade students are at an age where they can develop a lifelong love of reading and Storyworks will help cultivate their attitudes and mindset towards reading. In addiiton, comprehension will grow leading to higher succeshave s in reading and writing.

Expected Outcome(s)

Students will gain knowledge about unfamiliar topics and increase performance in reading and writing, increase reading stamina, show growth on district and state assessments, develop a love of reading, and become better overall readers.
