English language learners will have the opportunity to learn STEM vocabulary (Math, Science, Engineering and Technology) through real life experiences when designing and tending to a grade level garden.
Other -
Students will make connections between English vocabulary and their first language, Spanish, while exposed to grade level content applied to gardening and life cycles.
Students will be able to apply Math skills when: identifying seeds and plants, measuring soil, designing a garden and organizing information after collecting data.
Students will be able to grow as a school community when working as team in this project.
This project will allow students to:
-build STEM vocabulary that will increase test scores by 20%, evidenced through pre and post testing.
-get motivated toward learning and school projects
-grow as team members after working as a team on this special project.
This project will also allow third grade Math and Science grade level teachers to collaborate and engage students with meaningful experiences.
The Treasure Garden will also provide a beautified area by the third grade building for the school community to enjoy.
