How Project Benefits Students

The Attendance Prize Cart project provides significant benefits to students by increasing their motivation to attend school regularly through tangible rewards. This initiative uses positive reinforcement to establish a habit of punctuality and consistent attendance, which are essential for both academic success and personal responsibility. The anticipation of receiving a prize makes school attendance more engaging and enjoyable, thus enhancing the overall school experience.

Improved attendance is closely linked to better academic outcomes, as regular attendance helps students stay on track with their studies. The project also fosters a positive school culture by celebrating achievements and underscoring the value of consistent attendance, especially in the peak months of January-March when the school's attendance rates lower.

Expected Outcome(s)

The Attendance Prize Cart project, in conjunction with the school-wide attendance games that change quarterly. These quarterly games include getting at least 3 stickers each week, these stickers represent perfect attendance in the classroom. The class is expected to keep track by placing a checkmark on the chart that is located on the outside of each classroom. Every Friday, these charts will be checked & the prize cart will roll around during their lunch for each student to grab one item. Extra precaution and fidelity can be issued the School Social Worker, will take a look to confirm attendance data, if needed.
In addition, the School Social Worker vies attendance data in-depth at least four times a year during Student Advisory Council (SAC) Meetings. The data is taken from the Edconnect Attendance tab which showcases a line, circle, and bar graph, providing the attendance data per month for the year. This data is talked about during SAC meetings along with the initiatives on increasing our percentage. This will also serve as a measuring tool in determining if the school is on track.

The integration of the prize cart and attendance games is designed to generate excitement and enthusiasm among students, reinforcing the importance of regular attendance and promoting a positive attitude. As a result, classrooms that maintain consistent attendance will be motivated to keep up their efforts, leading to improved academic performance due to fewer disruptions and more stable classroom instruction.

Additionally, the project will strengthen the sense of community within the school, encouraging collaborative efforts toward attendance goals and enhancing the overall school environment. Teachers are likely to benefit from improved classroom dynamics and reduced absenteeism/unexcused absences, contributing to a more effective learning experience.

This initiative aims to increase overall attendance rates from 93% to 95% by the end of the 2024-2025 school year, improve academic performance, and promote healthy habits while building a supportive and engaging school community.
