Find It Fund It Florida - Hillsborough Education Foundation

The goal of this project is to expose young readers to literature that is engaging, culturally responsive, and rigorous. Qualitatively, I'm looking for an increase in the want and love for reading. Quantitatively, I'm looking for an increase in number of minutes spent on reading per student, an increase in student reading data as monitored through statewide assessment, and an increase in genres read this school year.

How Project Benefits Students

Storyworks magazines will expose young readers to a variety of text all in one magazine. We will be able to enhance almost all of the 4th grade ELA benchmarks through strategy building and exploration of the text provided by Scholastic. The text provided through Storyworks is rigorous, promoting higher order thinking for my readers and a chance to collaborate and converse about topics relatable to them. The readings are culturally responsive and allow for students to activate their background knowledge and hoan in on their interests while reading. Storyworks truly provides resources that will challenge students thinking about 4th grade reading benchmarks while making learning fun and engaging- as their teacher, I want them to have this worthwhile experience.
