Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Hillsborough Education Foundation - $967.98
I would like a grant to replant our learning garden after the long, hot summer and add a shed for tool and garden supply storage.
Students will plan and map garden beds, using the growth information for each plant.
Other -
Our learning garden is a place for long term investigations and outdoor plant and insect studies.
The students will learn how to plant and map out a garden, maintain and harvest vegetables, pollinators plants and shrubs.
Students will take a pre and posttest to check for learning and use their created map to plant the fall and spring seeds.
Students will combine several math and science skills to create a garden design, including research and drawing a garden to scale.
Students will learn and use the terms perimeter and area to calculate and design garden beds.
I will use the Inch by Inch, from Gardening for grades, Pre-Post assessment (see attachment) to check for understanding and expect 100% of the students will score an 80% or higher on the post test.
I expect the students to have a better understanding of agriculture, along with the work and research it takes to maintain a successful garden.
