Find It Fund It Florida - Hillsborough Education Foundation

Our goal is to help our students develop the skills they need to work with others and take ownership of their learning. We want students to understand the IB Approaches to Learning and how to use those skills (Social Skills, Self-Management Skills, Communication Skills, Thinking Skills, and Research Skills) to create positive relationships and be successful in the classroom and life.
Our goal is for our students to use these practical skills to increase their performance on state assessments such as FAST, STAR, and i-Ready.

How Project Benefits Students

Through our schools cross-grade level program, Families, students will work with teachers across the school to learn about and practice the IB Approaches to Learning. This year, we will use a Game On! theme to help students learn about Social, Self-Management, Communication, Thinking, and Research Skills. Students will work in cross-grade level groups from kindergarten through 5th grade to gain experience using these skills as they play games. Integrating these skills into learning, our students will build a solid foundation for both personal and academic achievement.
Teachers will help students to identify the skills they are using and reflect on how the skills they practice in Families can be used in the classroom and at home. This program will be used every three years to review the Approaches to Learning with the students.

Expected Outcome(s)

We expect that our students' assessment score in the FAST, STAR, and i-Ready assessments will increase, with 5% increase in students who are proficient in reading and math, due to students applying the new skills they have learned. We also expect the number of students earning citizenship honor roll will increase by 5%. We will have less students receiving referrals than last year, due to students learning how to collaborate and use social, communication, and self-management skills to encourage positive conflict resolution.
We expect that as the students work weekly their Families groups, they will be able to use the skills they learn in their classrooms. We expect that students will apply what they are learning to take ownership of their learning in the classroom. We expect this will also help with conflict resolution between students as they learn how to communicate and use social skills.
