$950 to cover the cost of transportation by bus to and from Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay.
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, etc.
Students in 8th grade science will enhance their understanding of physical science topics as they participate in various activities presented by Busch Gardens experts. Students will measure bite force, take a closer look at 'super' abilities and estimate the speed of a variety of animals. They will investigate physics in action with evidence from the various rides and roller coasters at the park. Physics Day connects with the following Next Generation Science Standards: SC.912.N.1.1, SC.912.P.10.1, SC.912.P.12.2, SC.912.P.12.3, SC.912.P.12.6
Students will be able to connect what they learn to interesting and fun activities at the park. Students will bring this knowledge back to the classroom to apply to future lessons in 8th grade physical science.
Before the trip, students will participate in a pre-assessment based on the topics they will learn at the park. They will complete a student packet created by Busch Gardens staff to compliment the in-person experiences. After the trip, students will complete a post-assessment to measure their learning.
