This project aims to support our school store and events vital to our PBIS program. Miles is a transformation school that uses Our school store and school-wide events to help motivate the students to come to school and learn. Our school will focus on our student attendance this year, positive behavior, and academic motivation. We support our student's attendance with Mustang money. Students with excellent attendance can earn Mustang money and possibly a Golden ticket. Many of our students need more motivation to work on their academics. Negative behaviors can arise from students as they struggle with academics. Our school store and Mustang money help reinforce positive behaviors using a token economy. We use Miles Mustang money to support our student's attendance, positive behaviors, and academic achievements. Teachers and staff can give students Miles Mustang money when the students come to school on time and are ready to learn. Mustang money also helps to motivate students to stay on task. Teachers and staff love to hand our students money when showing positive behaviors. The main goal of this project is to help motivate our students to come to school! Attendance Matters!!!
School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, etc.
Our fantastic Miles Mustang store benefits students by incentivizing them to attend school. Teachers will give students money just to come to school on time. The funds will also be given to motivate the students to work hard on their academics and make positive behavior choices. Students love the school store and events. Teachers enjoy using the token economy with their students as it increases academic motivation and positive behaviors. This year, we will also use Mustang Money to motivate attendance. Keeping the school store stocked with items that the students love and want to work for has been a challenge. Our students love edibles that include items like Takis and Sour Patch Kids. One of our school-wide events was a teacher-led event. Each grade level chose an activity for their grade level based on student preferences and the feasibility of the activity. The price of the classroom ticket was determined by the cost of the activity and the number of students in the class. Each class had to work together to earn a class ticket to enjoy the activity together. Seeing the classrooms work together as a team to earn the class ticket.
We look forward to more events with our students. Our Miles team, with their dedication and hard work, would like to offer more significant, more expensive items in the store so that students can save money for more oversized items. We do not get many more critical, big-ticket items in our store through donations, so it will be fun to offer the students items they wouldn’t usually be able to purchase at our Mustang Store.
The expected outcome of this project is to increase student attendance, positive behaviors, and academic motivation. We would also like to see a decrease in behavior trackers and office discipline referrals. Our desired outcome is for our students to achieve their highest academic and behavioral success. For academic and behavioral success to be possible, the students need to be in school every day.
As of last school year, we proudly earned a C school letter grade, a testament to the collective effort of our dedicated staff and hardworking students. Our team's perseverance and commitment were instrumental in achieving this goal. The Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) played a significant role in our success. Our long-term goal is to be an A school, and despite the challenges of the past two years, we have made gains. We owe a portion of our success to the HEF grant approved last year to help fund our school store. As a school, we are committed to maintaining this momentum and gaining the points needed for our letter grades to rise. Our teachers use Mustang Money and the school store as incentives for academic and behavioral achievement, fostering a culture of excellence and achievement.
This is a summary of some of the items that Miles students love to purchase at our Mustang Store.
