How Project Benefits Students

This project aims to foster environmental stewardship, improve health and nutrition knowledge, and inspire curiosity about where food comes from, empowering students with both scientific knowledge and practical skills for the future. By setting this project up now, the hope is that it will continue year by year, making this a permanent fixture at Miles Elementary School. This will be an ongoing project that will encourage community and parental involvement.

Expected Outcome(s)

By the end of the project, over 600 students, teachers, supporting staff, and parent volunteers will have actively participated in the creation, maintenance, and exploration of the school’s garden ecosystems. Students will gain hands-on experience in growing fruits and vegetables, understanding sustainable agricultural practices, and study the butterfly life cycle. The project will result in educational growth, community engagement, healthy eating habits, empowerment and skill-building.
