How Project Benefits Students

The field trip to Zoo Tampa will allow the students to view, hear and learn about different animals that live in different habitats. Students will tour each animal habitat and view animal experiences and shows and tour the zoo. The timeline for implementation includes touring the zoo, viewing the animal shows, eating lunch then riding the rides. Touring the zoo and viewing the animal shows is related to the curriculum as the students are able to identify animals that live in the jungle, on a farm, in a forest and in the ocean. Actually being inside of a zoo will improve achievement and provide educational enrichment because it stimulates all five senses of the students which help bring it to life.

Expected Outcome(s)

The numeric measurable outcome of this field trip is to expose preschool age students and high school students wanting to become early childhood educational professionals of how to connect in class learning to the real world to extend learning.
The grant will accomplish providing the necessary funding to make the field trip happen that will make the connection of how curriculum and hands on learning go together. This will also increase development in the following areas: language, literacy, physical, cognitive and social and emotional. The high schoolers will measure if each preschooler can identify common animals, the sounds they make and the habitat they live in at the end of the trip.
