Project Goal

The goal of my project is to stock our PBIS Store with incentives that our students can earn throughout the school year for demonstrating positive behavior.

How Project Benefits Students

Our school has a PBIS Store (Positive behavioral interventions and supports) that teachers can shop at once a week to get prizes for their class. Teachers select a variety of incentives for their students and take those incentives back to their classrooms for students to redeem PBIS points for. By having a variety of incentives, all students are able to find something that they want to work towards earning whether it is a piece of candy, a fidget toy, or a novelty item. Students earn PBIS points for following our school expectations and modeling positive behavior. They can exchange the PBIS points they earn for prizes once a week within their classroom. By giving students frequent opportunities to redeem their PBIS points, they are able to have a tangible reward for their behavior and are more likely to continue demonstrating the desired behaviors. The materials I am requesting will all be available in our PBIS store for teachers to stock their classroom PBIS store with and then students “purchase” with their PBIS points.  

 

Expected Outcome(s)

The expected outcome of this project is that 90% of students will earn 85% or more of their possible PBIS points each day as evidenced by the Live School system that our teachers use to award students PBIS points. Student behavior will improve based on teachers using our PBIS System with fidelity. Positive behavioral interventions and supports is an evidence-based, tiered framework that when implemented with fidelity improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment.

All of the items I am requesting can be ordered from Amazon. With a wide variety of incentives that students can earn, students will be encouraged to keep demonstrating the desired behaviors and earning PBIS points.
