To provide low tech. assistive technology and sensory aids to support students with disabilities in the General Education Classroom.
ESE Support teachers will go into the General Education classrooms to model, teacher and assist students with the use of AT devices/sensory aids which will allow student with disabilities to be more successful in their inclusive classrooms.
AT devices/sensory aides will provide comprehensive support to optimize student learning in their natural (inclusive) classroom. In addition, students will achieve an increase in academic and social/emotional gains.
It is important to note that my PK-2 school serves 950 students. We have a very large population of students with disabilities and 95% are served in the G.E. classroom for the entire day. These items were selected to assist these students. The tool chest (item #1) includes items for fine motor, transitions, sensory support, visual aides, etc. It is a comprehensive set of the most common tools for Primary/Elementary aged students. In addition, I have added balance cushions, visual timers and a lap pad which are always in high demand.
