Goal

The goal is to generate an interest in reading in students who are "non-readers" through the use of Kindle devices.

What will be done with my students

Students in the intensive reading/language arts classroom will have access to Kindle devices during their specified independent reading time. High interest works for secondary students will be downloaded onto these Kindles (for example, Sunshine State Books and Florida Teen Reads). These particular Kindles come with covers, vocabulary/flashcard practice, and a 2 year warranty.

Benefits to my students

The incorporation of high interest reading material through the use of technology will encourage "non-readers" to become interested in reading. This implementation has had successful results in other schools.

Budget Narrative

9 Kindles - 3 devices per classroom and $100 in Amazon Gift Card funds to purchase Kindle books. **We would ultimately like to equip each classroom with 5 Kindles ($1485) and each teacher with Amazon Gift Card funds ($300).**

Items

# Item Cost
