Goal

Sounds Really Low is a request for funds to purchase low sounding bass xylophone bars (one sub-contra bass bar and one contra bass bar) for the music program at Hilliard Elementary. 

 

What will be done with my students

The bass bars would be used regularly in our music room and for school programs. At Hilliard we use many barred instruments (xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels) in our music program. The bass bars would supplement what is already in place and would be used on an almost daily basis. The bass bars would be added and played immediately upon purchase. The students will LOVE playing these instruments! The instruments would last for many, many years and would be a part of the activities in the music room for years to come. 

 

Benefits to my students

It is expected that the music program would be greatly benefited by the purchase of these bass bars. The instruments would benefit EVERY kindergarten through fifth grade student in the school. The bars would aid in the study of steady beat, rhythm and note reading. The instruments would add extra instruments and sounds to be explored by all students in the school. The low sound of the instruments would add a foundational depth to the tone during ensemble playing in class, after school groups and for school programs and performances.
