Goal

The purpose of this project is to educate students on how to successfully grow and maintain a healthy fruit and vegetable garden.

What will be done with my students

Through hands on activities, student will experience and learn every step to growing a healthy fruit and vegetable garden. Students will participate fertilizing, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting. I also plan to have the students prepare, cook, and eat what they have grown. I would also like the students to harvest enough crops to share with the cafeteria and for students to take produce home. I plan to incorporate rooting, grafting, and transplanting plants into this program.

Benefits to my students

Students will gain lifelong skills that can provide essential and healthy foods. Students will also gain an appreciation for eating healthier and experimenting with new foods. This ability could possibly help lead students in future career decisions. This program will also incorporate science, math, art, reading, and writing into the gardening curriculum.

Budget Narrative

This grant will be used to help maintain and expand the current gardening program at Callahan Middle School and enhance the lives of all student participants.
