Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Nassau Education Foundation - $477.97
Students will gain problem solving skills through self directed discovery. Students will be challenged and inspired through the use of a hands-on approach to building, designing and testing their one-of-a-kind creations.
These activities will be ongoing throughout the entire school year. Students will plan, create, test and ask questions during this thought provoking process. Students will use these fun kits to create their own chain reaction, problem solve favorite folk tales and discover how to build a bridge. Once each task has been completed, based on their results, they will get the opportunity to make improvements and adjustments just like a real engineer.
According to the National Science Foundation 80% of all jobs in the next decade will require some form of math and science skills. Students need to start learning how to be independent problem solvers at the primary level. STEM activities allow students to combine the areas of math and science and use their imagination and creativity to solve problems, build and discover new ways of doing things aside from the obvious.
The above items will be used to meet the goals of this grant.
