Nassau Education Foundation - $1,000.00
Inspire students with a Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex field trip. This proposal is to give students an opportunity to investigate aerospace science and careers related to the field of astronomy.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion with an astronaut. Students will learn careers related to astronomy and aeronautical engineering. There are various engaging education programs at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex that bring space exploration to life. Admission allow students to explore the Apollo/Saturn V Center, home of the massive 365 foot-long Saturn V rocket, to tour NASA areas and to interact with shows and exhibits. During the Florida field trip, students also meet astronauts, watch larger-than-life 3D IMAX® films, come face-to-face with Space Shuttle Atlantis℠, strap into the Shuttle Launch Experience® and explore historic rockets. Meet Florida Sunshine State Standards, FCAT requirements and National Science Standards by taking a Kennedy Space Center field trip. Educators Activity Guides are available for kindergarten - grade 12. In addition NASA Kennedy Space Center promotes cooperative learning, problem solving and guided research.
In an effort to support STEM in education, I would like for my astronomy club students to experience a visit to NASA Kennedy Space Center. My students will increase their awareness in science and technology from this experience.
It is estimated that the field trip to NASA Kennedy Space Center will exceed the requested $1,000. Students will complete a fundraiser to cover costs of admission and substitute teachers for the field trip.
