Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Nassau Education Foundation - $1,000.00
The West Nassau High School's robotic team, the RoboTech Warriors, have a goal of making to the top 5 in the state this year. To reach that goal we will need to compete with teams that have such sponsors as NASA and Boeing.
Students on the robotics team compete in several competitions during the season that starts in September and lasts until January or February. Every season the goal of the competition is changed. Students will use funds to buy a new field set that allows them to practice for competitions, and buy materials that will help them build, test and improve their robot.
The RoboTech Warriors have 2 teacher sponsors. The 10 to 15 students on the robotics team will be able to practice for competitions by having the actual competition field set onsite(field set), ensure they have a working battery for the competition at all times(battery beak) , test programming of sensors on the robot without taking apart the competition robot(Spartan), and allow the robot to use programming to sense objects on the field (sensor package).
The RoboTech Warriors do not receive any money from the school or the district. They have done bus washing in the summer as well as collection of small donations from local sponsors to help with the costs involved.
