Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Nassau Education Foundation - $636.67
Students will be able to explain how 6 different categories of fossils are formed and give specific examples from their own life experiences as well as classroom experiences.
Students will study and identify 6-10 different fossils by correctly using a dichotomous key. The fossils will come from a collection of molds and cast, petrified fossils, carbon film, trace fossils, and preserved remains. (SC.7.E.6.3)
With the exception of a few classroom examples and students life experiences, most of our fossil study is directly based on text, pictures, and internet research. Our students would have the opportunity to study and examine over 45 student fossil samples, sort through a 6lb load of fossils from the Cenozoic, Mesozoic, and Paleozoic era, and new and exciting classroom replica exhibits.
Items 1-6 will be ordered from Frey Scientific and the price includes our 30% school discount. The Fossil sorting kits will be ordered off Amazon.com which gave the best pricing overall.
