Goal

Students in my ESE Pre-Kindergarten class have sensory needs and learn best through the use of high- quality, engaging manipulatives. The goals for this project is to make learning enjoyable, raise math scores on Readiness Snapshot, and get students ready for the next step.

What will be done with my students

Magic Math will incorporate the following objectives for multiple classrooms at our school: counting one to one correspondence, sorting by shape, color, and size, recognizing patterns, number recognition, and math words. It will also give students who need OT services the materials they need to develop fine motor skills which will be needed for higher math. The materials will be used daily in math centers and will be utilized for the life of the product. The products are all high quality and with care should last many, many years. I am currently teaching these objectives, but am relying on laminated paper copies and a limited variety of activities. This does not meet all of my special students' needs.

Benefits to my students

The expected outcome will be 100% of students making their projected learning gains and a student body that is eager and excited to participate in math centers. The entire Pre-Kindergarten at Yulee Primary will have access to these materials. This is a total of 3 teachers, 3 paraprofessionals, and 30 special needs students.

Budget Narrative

Each of these items are from the well-known award winning Lakeshore. These are research based manipulatives that are proven to work in the classroom. Each is linked to a curriculum objective and works seamlessly with previously used materials. Each of the above items will enhance the learning that occurs in every special needs classroom at Yulee Elementary!
