Goal

The goal of the music program at Callahan Intermediate School is to provide students with rich experiences in musical theatre. This year the musical Annie Jr. will be presented to the school and community on May 18, 2017.

What will be done with my students

Students will participate in all components of musical theatre including singing, drama, dancing, as well as set and costume design. Annually, CIS presents a musical. This year 37 students will present the musical Annie Jr. These students will participate in a rigorous practice schedule above and beyond the school day. In order to produce a high quality musical experience, CIS is in need of a digital audio mixer to amplify student voices.

Benefits to my students

With 60% of the student population at CIS falling under the low socio economic sub group category, it is unlikely they will have the opportunity to experience musical theatre in their every day life. The production of Annie Jr. will expose all students at CIS (587) to the many aspects of musical theatre, as well as provide exposure to the local Callahan community. The purchase of the digital audio mixer will provide such theatrical experiences for students and community members on an annual basis for years to come.

Budget Narrative

The $1,000 grant funds will go towards the purchase of the digital mixer. Total cost of digital mixer is $1,650.00
