Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Nassau Education Foundation - $213.38
The Goal of this project will be to introduce to the advanced Building Construction students at Yulee High School the skills needed on how to operate a Wet Tile Saw. Students will build a collage made out of different colors of tile on a 12” by 12” board. The boards will be framed and hung as decoration in the Building 8 bathroom hallway.
The Woodshop at Yulee High School has had leftover tile donated to the shop. The students will be given a 12” x 12” board to decorate. Students will be instructed to break up different colors of tile and create a design on their board.
In addition, students will mill and make their own trim to frame in their work of art.
The vision for the Yulee Woodshop is that students will leave behind something to make Yulee High School better than it was when they entered highschool.
The advanced students in the Building Construction classes will benefit from this project in two ways. First, they will be taught how to use a Wet Tile Saw. The lessons learned in class can increase the skills listed on their resume as they graduate and look for employment. Secondly, this project will help market the Woodshop program to other students interested in the Building Trades and help beautify the campus.
We have the wet Tile saw and enough tile to complete the tile collages. The tools and supplies listed will be needed to complete the tile job properly.
