Goal

My goal for this curriculum is to introduce my students to the fundamentals of music, to increase music appreciation and give them a solid musical foundation upon which they can learn and grow.

What will be done with my students

Students will be actively guided through the Quaver Music ClassPlay course by the instructor. The ClassPlay curriculum provides access to interactive software which engages children in learning the fundamentals of music and music appreciation.
Lesson plans and course instruction are centered around a wide variety of songs from various genres such as traditional, folk, classical, world, holiday, and patriotic. The students will learn general music education, the basics of music composition and music history. They will also be exposed to a variety of musical genres.

Activities also incorporated into the curriculum by the instructor will be movement & dance,
rhythm & pitch recognition, instrument playing, animated songs with highlighted lyrics, and full scores with note or measure highlighting
cross-curricular activities. The curriculum has a growing repertoire of over 600 songs and thousands of activities linked to a song, ClassPlay is an engine of music-exploration. The ClassPlay program helps teachers engage students, teach songs, and reinforce student understanding at every grade and skill level.
 

 

Benefits to my students

I am the media specialist, physical education and music teacher. The ClassPlay program crosses all curriculum areas as an interdisciplinary program. This program will benefit every student in our school. Research shows that students who engage in music education excel in other academic areas, including Language Arts and Mathematics. Our students will learn the fundamentals of music and music composition, through exposure to a variety of learning modalities.  

 

Budget Narrative

This is a yearly subscription based technology program that may have to be renewed on a yearly basis. However, I may be able to acquire the necessary funding to renew this subscription in the future.
