Goal

To acquire short story units created specifically to cover the Florida literature standards for grades 6 and 7. We will be using short stories that students LOVE and while we're engaging them with these stories they will be completing activities that are rigorous and complex.

What will be done with my students

Each unit is jam-packed and rigorous, including essential questions that tie together paired texts (that are included) across genres and types, close reading with annotation guides, mini-lessons for relevant concepts and skills, comprehension quizzes and tests, vocabulary guides, discussion questions, questions that require text evidence.

The twenty two units comfortably cover ALL Reading Literature Common Core Standards for Grades 6 and 7, address ALL Reading Informational Text Standards for 6th and 7th Grades, plus additional standards in Writing, Language, and Speaking and Listening.

Benefits to my students

Upon completion of these reading units, students will be able to successfully meet and/or master the reading literature standards for their grade level as well as several informational standards while maintaining a passion for reading!
