Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Nassau Education Foundation - $1,000.00
Next year at Yulee Middle School we will be implementing a school-wide program called Advisory. Our teachers will implement this program through the directions outlined within The Advisory Book. The Advisory program is a program that helps develop strong social skills within the learning environment. Advisory promotes positive relationships with students amongst their peers through guided lessons and common verbiage across all academic settings to create autonomy throughout the school.
Each morning students across campus will start their day with an advisory lesson outlined within the text. Advisory time will be built into the school day for all students to participate. Throughout the lessons taught each day, students will gain and understanding of others’ strengths, weaknesses, and roles within the classroom. Students develop a sense of respect for each other through the activities within the lesson. These social skills are built and applied within the classroom throughout the learning environment.
Middle school aged students experience difficulty through finding out who they are and where they belong. The Advisory program helps students to establish trust between each other and adults. The program creates a safe social emotional environment where all student needs are met and they gain confidence and acceptance from their classmates. Students are taught how to interact with each other and accomplish tasks together through the daily activities within the program. These skills carry over to the classroom and throughout the community.
The cost per book is $26.95 ea., I am requesting for 64 homeroom teacher copies to service 1,054 students daily. The book will be used each morning by all homeroom teachers during Advisory Morning Meeting. The total cost for each homeroom teacher to receive a copy will be $1,724.80.
