Impact to My Classroom

Due to the grant we were able to allow all of our student body access to the wonderful website Generation Genius. The program allowed teachers to expand upon their resources and give students one more way to better understand the science content that they were learning. The program also offered teachers a variety of ways to assess their students understanding of the content. There were games, exit tickets, and even worksheets. The program also gave teachers some innovative hands on learning ideas for the topics. Having this program has allowed our school to increase student engagement in science and we are extremely thankful for all the foundation's help.

Goal

My goal is to obtain a renewal for our school wide subscription to the learning website Generation Genius.

What will be done with my students

Our subscription to Generation Genius has allowed students access to the program on a one to one technology basis, for small group or independent activities, and in whole group settings. The students and teachers have loved having access to the program and use it frequently as a preview, continuation, and even expansion upon our standards. There is a video for almost every science standard taught in middle school. The videos are 10-15 minutes, but pack a lot of information into that time frame and make it enjoyable and engaging for the students.

Benefits to my students

First of all I want to say thank you for purchasing the current subscription we have. The teachers and students LOVE it! They look forward to the videos and are actively engaged throughout them. The program has been very beneficial with all of the uncertainty this year and our virtual learners. It allows them to still view the videos we show in class from home. Each video comes with a set of vocabulary, discussion questions, reading material, lesson plan, teacher guide, DIY activity, and assessment. The assessment piece can be done in the form of paper and pencil or even an online Kahoot game, which is all the rage now! They are also adding math lessons up to 8th grade in the fall.

The cost above is the renewal price for a year long subscription to Generations Genius for the entire school. This includes all teachers and students, as well as, unlimited devices.
