Goal
To create a memorial to those who perished during the holocaust (especially the children) so that students will first realize that it did happen, second they will ask the question why it happened and when they discover the answer, they will never let it happen again.
What will be done with my students
My students will develop the area where the garden will be. They will clear it, condition the soil, install a self watering irrigation system, and plant the perennial flowers as well as a 3 palm trees to frame the area each palm tree representing 500,000 children lost during the years of the holocaust. Working in concert with the national Daffodil Project, and our newly created Holocaust class, we hope this will be created in time for true holocaust survivors who are scheduled to address our students to take part in its dedication.
Benefits to my students
Those that remember history will never repeat its dark side.
Budget Narrative
We are coordinating this garden with the new holocaust class we have at this school and our hopes are that it will be ready to have holocaust survivors that will be visiting the class dedicate the garden while they are here at the ens of April.
