The goal is to purchase an All-in-One printer/copier to support the new Transition Class beginning at the Polk County School Board on October 10th. The class focuses on supporting the plans and dreams that a student with a disability has for the future and to facilitate the student’s movement from school to post school activities. This is based on the individual student’s needs, taking into account the student’s strengths, preferences and interests which include instruction, services, employment, adult living objectives, and community experiences.

Impact to My Classroom

Thank you from the students and staff in the Transition Program at the Polk County School Board for the All-in-One printer/copier/scanner/fax machine and toner cartridge!  This resource has been an integral part of the daily instruction of the Transition Program at the Polk County School Board and will continue to impact countless of numbers of new students.  The students have received instructional materials related to gaining and maining employment, daily living skills, social skills, communication skills and community and agency resources.  The students are learning how to fill out and submit applications for services and employment and develop their own resumes and portfolios.  It has also facilitated family contact and engagement and the daily business of administering the transition site. The All-in-One Printer/copier has provided tremendous support for the students, the staff and the new classroom.  This tool has improved the students' ability to attain their goals and plans for a successful move into adult life. Thank you from all of us!

Goal

The goal is to purchase an All-in-One printer/copier to support the new Transition Class beginning at the Polk County School Board on October 10th. The class focuses on supporting the plans and dreams that a student with a disability has for the future and to facilitate the student’s movement from school to post school activities. This is based on the individual student’s needs, taking into account the student’s strengths, preferences and interests which include instruction, services, employment, adult living objectives, and community experiences.

 

 

What will be done with my students

The students will receive instruction and materials in gaining and maintaining employment, daily living skills, available agency resources and community activities. The students will learn how to fill out and submit various applications for services and employment, develop a personal portfolio and resume’. They will participate in hands-on unpaid job training at various work sites. The All-in- One printer/copier will be integrated into the class and will support the transition class for years to come. It will be used by teachers and students to continue the ongoing training and materials needed to conduct the class and support the plans of the students.

 

 

Benefits to my students

The outcomes for the students include developing specific skills and having the tools such as a resume’ and portfolio that can lead to gaining and maintaining employment and improving their ability to attain their goals and plans for a successful move into adult life. The Transition class will average 10 students and 2 staff each year.

 

 

Budget Narrative

The budget covers the purchase of an All-in-One Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax and remaining funds will be used to purchase toner cartridges.
