Goal

To help my students understand that their art should be shared with others through service and not confined to personal gain. To understand third world culture and appreciate the opportunities we have to make art.

What will be done with my students

Graphic Art students will create line drawings on the computer that will be compiled into a book that will be printed and bound by Print Shop students. Guests will be invited to come to class to share pictures and experiences about the area where the color books will be sent. As a follow-up, the guest(s) will be asked to send back pictures of children/students in these countries as they accept and enjoy the color books.

Benefits to my students

Students will gain an understanding of world culture; students will learn to work together towards a common goal, taking pride in their own work, and then the work of the group as their drawings become one color book that is shared with children of other countries. Students will learn to use art for service beyond the classroom.

Budget Narrative

This is an annual project. This year we would like to send to the southern region of China and to Guatamala. We may have someone who can take a suitcase to Guatamala, but we must ship to China.
