What will be done with my students

My students will strengthen skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The real-life projects give them a unique opportunity to understand how all the disciplines interact. Studies show this understanding makes it much easier to communicate across disciplines later in life, whether that means using art skills to illustrate an engineering concept, or using math to explain the aesthetics of art.
The students will work in collaborative teams (labeled as engineers, mathematicians, scientists, inventors, creators, makers, or innovators) impowered by specific roles such as material manager, captain, timer, or speaker. They will be encouraged to have a growth mindset.
These activities are supported by many standards. Some of them are:
SC.3. N.1.4,
SC. 3.N.3.2-3,
SC.3. P.10.1-2,
MA.K12.MTR. 3.-7.1(Provide opportunities for students to create models, both
concrete and abstract, and perform investigations. Challenge students to question the accuracy of their models and methods).

Benefits to my students

Through these hands-on projects my students will learn critical thinking & problem solving, build confidence, collaboration, communication, creativity and innovation.
Introducing STEM through real-world applications will help my students understand the way the world works around them and the important role they play. The kids will continue to make connections and apply their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills wherever they go.
The time and effort my students will invest in their projects will contribute to a great sense of pride when it’s complete! This confidence will help them embrace future challenges as they grow up.
Collaboration is an essential part of solving tomorrow’s problems. With KiwiCo STEAM projects, learning together using multiple disciplines is seriously fun. They’ll learn the importance of working together.
Also, these projects will help foster the creativity and innovative thinking that will be valuable, and in some cases imperative, for the future workforce.
