What will be done with my students

Per the State of Florida Department of Education standards and Benchmarks for Criminal Justice Operations 3 22.15 students are required to process a mock crime scene for fingerprints, 23.02 Identify focal points of fingerprints, 23.04 Lift and record latent prints. These kits will greatly assist in the facilitation of these standards and benchmarks.

In the real world of Crime Scene Investigation, Crime scene investigators have their own fingerprint kit to work a crime scene. These kits are equipped with everything they would need to process a scene. These Classroom kits would be assigned to a student for the entire year so that when a mock crime scene is being investigated, they will be ready with what they need and when we are doing the fingerprinting module they will be prepared, and this will save time.

The Atlantic HS Academy of Law and Government as required is a member of a CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organizations) namely the Florida Public Service Association. Two times a year the FPSA has conferences and competitions and some of these competitions are for Fingerprinting and Crime Scene Investigations. Students are required to bring their own kits and these kits will assist the students during these competitions.

Benefits to my students

These individual kits will save prep time and therefore allow for more instruction time during the various fingerprinting and crime scene modules. This also gives a more real-world experience for our students who pursue fingerprinting, crime scene investigation or law enforcement.
Also as mentioned above, The Atlantic HS Academy of Law and Government as required is a member of the Florida Public Service Association. Two times a year the FPSA has conferences and competitions and some of these competitions are for Fingerprinting and Crime Scene Investigations. These kits will assist the students during these competitions.
Lastly, these kits will further provide our students with the advanced knowledge in Crime Scene Investigation and the Development of Fingerprints, thus giving our student a leg up in the industry they may chose as a career.
