Goal

The goal is for every child in class to have a Gelli Plate that will allow them to have a fun and therapeutic way of experimenting with printmaking. Students will get to explore a variety of printing mediums and patterns to create their own personal artworks.

What will be done with my students

VA.K.S.1.1 Explore art processes and media to produce artworks.
VA.1.S.1.1 Experiment with art processes and media to express ideas.
VA.2.S.1.1 Experiment with tools and techniques as part of art-making processes.
VA.3.S.1.1 Manipulate tools and media to enhance communication in personal artworks.
VA.4.S.1.1 Manipulate tools and materials to achieve diverse effects in personal works of art.
VA.5.S.1.1Use various art tools, media, and techniques to discover how different choices change the effect on the meaning of an artwork.
Students will be able to create layers of color and texture with stencils, stamps and other found objects. The Gelli Plates will give students a creative outlet to explore art with these reusable, long-lasting art supplies. 

 

Benefits to my students

300 students in VPK- 5th grade will be able to create colorful and interesting backgrounds to many art projects. Students and teachers can also create holiday cards with the gelli plates. This will be a great opportunity for a staff building hands on experience.
