What will be done with my students

My students will use a structured approach to ask an investigative question about the world around them. They will complete background research and present a thoughtful hypothesis related to their original question. Through observations and empirical evidence, they will either support or refute their original hypothesis and conclude their experiment with a concise interpretation of their results and how they apply to real-world circumstances. They will present their project on a tri-fold board in a neat and organized manner. We will be focusing on the Florida Standard/Benchmark SC.5.N.1.1., which asks the students to "define a problem, use appropriate reference materials to support scientific understanding, plan and carry out scientific investigations of various types such as: systematic observations, experiments requiring the identifications of variables, collecting and organizing data, interpreting data in charts, tables, and graphics, analyze information, make predictions, and defend conclusions."

Benefits to my students

Completing a science fair project promotes creativity and a deeper appreciation for science, which is essential in today's technology-driven society. Engaging in science allows children to explore the world around them, encouraging curiosity and innovation. Supplying the project boards and necessary materials allows us to provide a foundational starting point for each and every student.

Budget Narrative

The project board and headers will be used for the presentation of the experiment and will provide a great first impression. The copy paper will be used for the students to either write or print their individualized research segments. The remainder of the items, the colored cardstock and the permanent/colored markers will be used to create bold headlines and to embellish the project as a whole.
