Goal
We all know that grammar can be super boring (both to learn and to teach), and we’re avoiding it as much as possible by focusing more on conversational, practical, and repetitive classes. However, some simple rules that can be summarized in short phrases help correct mistakes I’ve seen my students "dragging" with them over the years. I never get tired of repeating them, and I never will. But I believe it would be very valuable to find fun ways to help my students remember those little rules that make a big difference.

What will be done with my students
I’d like to create temporary tattoos with the same phrases I repeat to them almost every day. I think they would laugh at the situation, and visually, they could find anchors to help correct those errors. For example: many students easily remember that ‘because’ means ‘porque’, but when they want to say ‘because of’, they get confused and say ‘porque de’, when the translation is much simpler: because of means por. I never get tired of repeating it, and I think it would make them smile if I gave them a temporary tattoo with these phrases. The idea is to create a set of 5 phrases that I repeat constantly to hand out as needed.
WL.K12.AH.2.4: Demonstrate understanding of idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and sayings from a variety of texts and derive meaning from unknown words by using context clues.
WL.K12.AL.5.1: Express, in writing, ideas on a variety of topics presented in clear, organized texts.
WL.K12.AL.5.3:
Write well-organized essays, summaries, and reports on a broad range of topics including those that have been personally researched using authentic texts.
WL.K12.AL.5.4 Use idioms and idiomatic expressions in writing.
WL.K12.IH.5.3 Present, in writing, viewpoints on an issue and support opinion with clarity and detail.
WL.K12.AL.3.1: Communicate with moderate fluency and spontaneity on familiar topics, even in complex situations.
Benefits to my students
Giving temporary tattoos with grammar phrases is to find a fun and visual way to help my students remember key concepts. By turning the rules I constantly repeat into something tangible and humorous, students can visually associate those phrases with the errors they often make. This will not only help them correct those mistakes more effectively, but it will also make the experience more memorable and engaging.
Budget Narrative
I plan to make 2,000 personalized temporary tattoos, with 400 of each phrase. Each tattoo, produced in bulk, costs 50 cents. The idea is to have at least 5 phrases that will be used whenever students make errors in their texts or speaking exercises.
